Alright, here it is. I feel that I may have sold out, but there comes a point where one feels one must. In an effort to supliment my currently non-existant income, I've set up a Google Ad-sense account tied to this blog. Though until readership improves, I doubt it'll make any difference. Meanwhile, to whatever readers I DO have: The ads are there because if you CLICK one of them, Google gives me money.
I've also stumbled on a very clever little tool which I'm hoping will earn me a few bucks on the side: a site called LinkBee. (Yes, this is my referal link. Help a brother out.)
LinkBee is an attempt to monetize the URL shortening game. We've all heard of TinyURL and other sites like it; LinkBee adds a new twist. By adding some relatively unobtrusive ads to a link - with a selection of options, either intersital or banner - LinkBee allows you to earn money for the links you shorten. They pay out through PayPal, and while rates are relatively low, (1.50-$2 depending on the method of advertising, and that on a per-thousand-click basis) a high traffic link can earn you some bonus money. There IS a minimum payout, around 15-20 dollars, but if enough people visit the sites you link . . . it can still add up in time. You can also create links without advertising, at your option.
It's also possible to earn extra money through referrals, as LinkBee provides you with additional funds for the links your referrals create.
So, anyone interested in making some extra money, and simultainiously helping a starving student out, please follow my referral link and start making links of your own. It's not a bad idea, really, and if there MUST be advertising, it's about time the end users find ways of making it work for us.
